Reggie Hudlin “Left” BET
According to the memo mentioned in Varety’s article on Reginald Hudlin’s departure from BET, he left the company on his own accord and will be “returning to his entrepreneurial roots as an independent producer.”
Also, in the flattering memo BET CEO Debra Lee says,
Reggie has played an invaluable role in the ongoing transformation of BET Networks, including the successful launch of our DVD division and laying a solid foundation for BET Films – he has put the network on the path to even more success. I’m thankful for everything he has contributed to our company. He is a true creative force and it has been an honor and pleasure to work with him.
We all know in this industry, forced resignations on the high end executive level is a common thing. Given Reggie’s track record with “Hot Ghetto Mess” “We’ve Got To Do Better” and thumbs-down reception to “Black Panther” and a list of other shows that never came to light (Where’s the Paul Mooney show?), I’d put my money on his bags being packed for him. That’s pure speculation though.
