Viacom To Cut 150 Employees From BET?
As the media powerhouse continues to trim staff throughout its branches, rumor has it that today Viacom will lay-off 150 employees from BET Networks across the board. That means offices located in DC, NY, Chicago and LA will be affected by the mass cuts.
This move could strike a near lethal blow to the still growing network and could mean a drastic change in its programming. Don’t be surprised if you see more music video shows without hosts and more content sharing between BET, CBS, MTV and other sister networks.
One of the few silver linings (if you want to call it that) is that freelance producers may have an opportunity to sell shows to BET even though it would have to be for super cheap.
As the holidays get closer, it’s becoming more evident that things are going to suck. Who knows what lies ahead of us in this crumbling economy?
